Heating Services Team Helping You Invest in an Energy-Saving System
Heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular options for homeowners seeking an affordable and energy-efficient way to heat and cool their homes. A heat pump blends the capabilities of both a heater and an air conditioner, offering both services in one convenient unit.

What Are Heat Pumps?
Heat pumps are essentially heat transporters – they move warm air from one place to another instead of generating heat as a furnace or boiler does. This makes heat pumps considerably more energy-efficient than other types of heating and cooling systems.
Understanding the Efficiency of a Heat Pump
Here at CJ’s Heating and Cooling, we are strong advocates for ductless heat pump systems – we believe they are a great, cost-effective option for homeowners.
When Describing The Efficiencies Of Heat Pumps, We Consider The Units:
- HSPF: Heating season performance factor. This measures the actual heating performance of a heat pump. The higher the number, the better it performs. Good heat pumps run between 9 and 12 while some ductless or geothermal units run at 13 or higher.
- SEER: Seasonal energy efficiency rating. This only measures how efficient an AC is when it is operating under perfect conditions in the summer (when it is not too hot and not too cold). Most residential equipment is rated between 14 and 16 SEER while the higher-end conventional ducted systems are rated up to 21.
- EER: Overall energy efficiency rating. Most systems are rated around 10 while the most efficient units reach 12.5.
- COP: Coefficient of performance. This measures how much energy you get in dollars versus what you put in. It is the closest thing to an actual efficiency rating there is for a heat pump. For example, a heat pump with a COP of two will provide you with two dollars’ worth of heat for the cost of one.
We offer energy rebates for heat pump systems. These rebates are received based on SEER, EER, and HSPF. This means the more efficient your unit, the better your rebate. Get a cold climate heat pump to ensure your home stays warm.
